Sports Sports Sports

Now, there's a lot of things I can do tonight.  Do some work, make a few phone calls, write a blog or...watch sports all night.  I have three options tonight.  I have the Sixers, which as a child growing up, I watched a lot of basketball.  As an adult, don't watch as much anymore, but by golly, I'm still interested.  Choice number two.  Hockey.  I hated hockey as a kid growing, and I mean I couldn't stand it at all.  However, hockey is slowly but surely turning into one of my favorite sports to watch.  Man hockey is fun and awesome.  Last but not least...baseball.  Watching Roy at the moment, getting his groove back, and even though I know he's on Dave's team, I still rooting for Roy.  I want Roy to be the man, he deserves it.  Are we going to get the same Roy we had a few years ago?  I don't know, but I know that in his twilight years it's going to be quite interesting to see Roy do his thing with the off speeds.  "You're Doing it ROY!"

I'm sitting here now watching the Flyer's PP, come on fellas, let see that number one PP team now shall we.  Well it wasn't a power play, but let see Cooter get one shall we, damn right you will.  Man, I haven't turned the channel in a while, and I really want to watch the Phil's game...and here I go.

Ughh...up and down, not feeling good about tonight.  The weird thing is this, it has been a rough year to be a Philadelphia sports fan.  However, I'm praying the Phils will be our savior of the year.  Come on guys do your thing.  I guess after all these years, we've been spoiled pretty good.  So what now?  The dark ages are back?  Please for the the love of god...lets hope not.  Cause, it will be quite sad and disappointing.

Well unfortunately, this is another short one tonight.  I've a lot of work to do tomorrow, and I've got to get ready for beerfest, making a few peanut belts, and getting my options ready for the weekend.  I really looking forward to it.  I have a lot of things planned, not a lot I can say on here yet, but I'm working towards that next big step...yes, that next big thing.  Do work kids, do work.

So last year, my friends and family, and some random strangers helped me make close to 750 dollars in charity funds.  All of that has gone to LLS, and well I didn't think RTK was coming back, however...watch the video below.

RTK is back, and well I'm back in it this year.  I haven't started any training, and well I pretty much in no shape to run a 5K.  I sucked at running before, and pretty sure I'm back at doing not so good.  However if it's for Kina and a good cause, I don't mind making the best of it.  So here's to training, and here's to the next run.  And here's to earning money for Kina.  Probably one of my most favorite human on earth.  Love me some Kina.  WOOT!!

You're Not the Time Kent

This weekend past by pretty quickly, and well I've learned one thing.  Okay, maybe a few things, but two of the most important things are 1.  I'm not meant to play basketball, I can only shoot 30% on the foul line, that's just terrible.  Numero dos?  Well, I've started drinking way too much again, and my goal, I'm not going to drink at all during the work week.  I can't say all week, cause well, beerfest is this weekend, and it be just plain old silly not to drink my self silly.  However that's my game plan this week and I'm sticking too it.  Monday night...successful.  Yay!

Well it's the start of the 2013 baseball season has begun, as I sit here watching the Phils and doing some business and my blog, I've realized, baseball is so much more fun when you're playing fantasy baseball.  If it's true or not, and if I'm the, "Blitz" or not, I'm going to enjoy the fact that I'm in for another long season, and looking forward to some fun times.

I'm sitting here imagining what camping is going to be like.  I really don't know, I guess it can be fun.  Never thought I would ever go camping, but there are a lot of things I thought I would never do.  I'm actually really looking forward to cooking in the wild, as well as building a fire a la Bear Grylls style.  I just want to build one by hand.  No nothing, just me and the wilderness...and a tent, and a radio, and maybe my cellphone.  I hate camping.

It's a short night, trying to do work and a blog, not very smart.  Trying to do a blog, work, and watch the Phillies game, no production whatsoever.  However before this night ends, I really recommend watching the red band trailer for "This is the End."  That movie looks amazingly hilarious.

OYSTER DAY!!!

These past couple of weekends have been pretty awesome, I've gone to Harold's, hung out with Dave and Jay and Co., gone out on wacky adventures, and made some epic meals for my family.  Life has been pretty good, well except for the work part of course.  Things could always be better on that end, however, I'm striving to make changes, that's the goal at least.  However with all this in mind, I think the last weekend I had was amazing.  Oyster Day, those are the days I look forward to, and well, this Oyster Day may have been the best one out of them all.  The day started with us riding down to AC, for once, it was a gambling day where we brought nothing but good energy and Karma.  No parking on level 5 or 8, instead went into a one way direction and parked on level 1.  Wasn't the greatest of starts...but hell, Oyster Day.

We enter the building and start moving forward, and to continue the growth of bad luck, I leave my phone in the car, and rush back to go get it.  From here on out, it can only get better right?  Sure, sure...so the first thing we do.  Hit up a slot machine for Dave to play, good old penny slots.  Dave plays his share, and off to Keno.  Why Keno?  Why the hell not?  The world was our Oyster.  We could do whatever we want.  So off to the Keno table we went...and of course...no luck, dang.  Off to the real thing, table games.

We played a few rounds of roulette at open ends, however with the idea of having tables being 10 minimums, and only being allowed to play with 5 dollar chips on the inside, well it went fast.  However me and Dave won a few, and it kept us alive.  I watched Dave play a little longer, however it was just right before we hit up for lunch that's where I feel I made a huge run.  Started with just $60, and playing to keep alive, Dave and me choose 35, thirty-five being my number, and for some odd reason, I just don't want to give it up.  When Dave finally runs out of chips, and I promised him I play my last and final hand, well let's just say, having about 10 dollars on 35 didn't hurt, and the chip playing in front of it?  Yeah, not to shabby at all.  Now Dave preaches that he's the cooler.  However what Dave doesn't know is, he's my good luck charm.  I never win when Dave is not around, and even though he yells it, I don't want to gamble without Dave, that's when I win the biggest, 300 last time and almost 400 this time, it's not the hugest pot, however it's pretty big, considering that I'm always down 5 or 6 hundred.  You're not the cooler Dave, you're my good luck charm.  I need you there bud.

After the big win, I watched Dave play quite a few hands of blackjack...oh how I wanted to gamble more.  The thing I hate most, watching people gamble and not being able to play as well.  Ohhh...torture.  I feel bad Davie H. didn't win, however only $40 lost isn't that bad.  Afterwards, headed towards dinner, tried out that new rodizio place.  Not bad, not bad at all.  Is it Fogo or Chima, fudge no.  However the place is good for something in NJ, and you definitely cannot beat that.

All I can say is that Oyster Day was a major success...however it's this next portion that Dave has got me wondering.  He/them...I don't know.  They want me to set up this 10 year High School reunion.  Supposedly I'm the face of this operation...smh, I don't know why.  However I'm always up for a new adventure.  I've gotten in contact with a few of our student government reps, and well.  No reply yet, however this should be interesting.  I haven't really thought about high school in a while.  It will be nice though seeing some kids running back and forth, seeing where everyone has been.  I really want the 20 year one.  But beggars can't be choosers I guess...I should be glad I'm still alive for this 10 year one.  Anywhoo, I guess I'll start planning.  It's weird, for all the crappy things I put together, I'm really surprised the fellas want me to organize this.

I'm missing the Kina things in my life.  Can't wait for her new album to drop...until then, take a listen to her new cover.  Amazing.

EPs, LPs...SPs?

Well aren't you kids in for a treat, my third...no wait fourth blog this week?  I don't know, not that it matters, only a select few of people actually read this thing.  Can you imagine if more people read this, they be furious at me, I mean like rip my head off cause my opinions are idiotic so lets rip this kid's head off idiotic.  Yeah, that's the way it is.  Anyway, I'm just chilling at a Starbucks before I head to dinner with Syl and friends.  I'm pretty excited about the dinner and hookah tonight.  I need a like this like I need a bigger paycheck.  I don't know if that analogy works, but I'm going for it gosh darn it.

As you can see, the title states, EPs, LPs, and SPs, and well if you're not musically inclined it's just that.  Extra Play, Long Play, and SPs, I don't know.  They aren't really popular anymore.  Tell you the truth I don't even know what format it is.  I just know that it's supposedly out there.  Whatever, it's not like it honestly matters.  Anywhoo, I'm sitting in this Starbucks listening to The Airborne Toxic Event's new EP.  Must admit, I'm really looking forward to this new album coming out.  I guess I'll just be plain old mad if they skip Philadelphia.

Well, lets see, I really had an exciting time at Cous Cous.  The ten course meal was amazing, between the lamb, chicken, and the puff pastry filled with a chicken stuffing and a white powder topping.  The savory sweet deliciousness is amazing.  Chicken Bastilla I believe it was called, my favorite dish of all the dishes I had.  What an amazing time.  Oh, and I saw the most attractive belly dancer ever.  Not that I know a lot of belly dancers or anything, however I definitely know pretty when I see it.  Yay her.  So stupid me, not knowing the rules, do I tip her or do I not tip her.  After her trying to get me to dance with her, I decide, yeah better tip her.  With me offering her a tip, I felt like I was giving a stripper a tip. Oh, boy.  However all in all good times.  Then came the hookah.  Delicious, delicious hookah.

And that leads us to the beginning of the weekend.  Head up to Dave's for dinner and drinks.  What a day.  We started drinking and watching Bar Rescue.  Wow, what a great show, and what else?  Play some NHL 13.  However the day was mostly for Harold's, now Harold's make a pretty epic sandwich huge.  It's not the best pastrami, but it is pretty good.  I've always thought Katz was pretty amazing for pastrami.  It's a good time.

Today, made chicken fried steak for the family.  I'm not going to lie, it's not one of the best dishes I've ever made.  By frankly, I was very displeased about this.  Well it was okay, but next time I attempt it, I swear, it's going to be ten times better.  Ughh...as for me tonight, I'm heading off to bed, pretty tired, and freaking out about going to work tomorrow.  :(  I shouldn't be.  However, I am.

That's What a Man Does

What has happened?  What happened to men being men in this county?  It looks like everywhere I look, dudes aren't tough enough.  It seems our action actors are being played by some sort of Aussie or some sort of European.  Back in my day, I remembered Chuck Norris, Sly Stallone, and even Bruce Willis.  Who do we have now?  Matt Damon?  Yeah...that's all I can really think of.  That makes me sad, because in all honesty, this is the culture we live in now.  We live in the world and culture of the metrosexual.  Oh boy...

Okay, so first things first.  I'm not roughest man, I'm not into the cowboy boots and hats.  Hell, I'm part of that metrosexual movement.  I'm not going all the way with the metrosexual idea, but being clean, smelling nice, and dressing nice.  Is that such a bad idea?  No absolutely it is not.  I always figured if you work hard, you definitely have to play hard.  Why not looking nice while doing it though.  You have to clean up nice as well.  I guess that's where that's going.  Hmmm...if you think about it, I'm actually a lot metrosexual.  Fuck.

So how did it become like this?  Why did it become like this?  Where did this wussification of the man come from?  Why are they here?  Aren't the younger generation worried about not looking tough anymore?  Worried about being manly men?  Who is to blame for all of the wussy crap?  Why has our country of strong manly men...well dwindled?  Here are my three reasons why I believe we just gave up on the thought.

1. Technology:  That's right I said it, technology in the end is fucking us over.  You have kids glued to the magic box, playing their video games, and watching their programs.  Kids aren't out their running and playing.  I remember as a child playing wiffle ball with my friends and kickball as a kid.  Hahaha, I even remember watching my friend hitting a tennis ball into a window and smashing it.  Nowadays though, kids have their technology, their iPads, iPhones, mypads, and so on and so forth.  It's time we need to walk a little, get lost, play, read a book even, be a man.  Get dirty, get muddy, grind, do the things we don't do anymore.  Yeah, technology is killing us, this is how the robots are going to win.  We all want it to be zombies, but it's going to be robots.

2.  Girls:  I don't care how many hate emails, or messages I get, girls are fucking up our manliness.  I know what you're thinking, girls want manly guys, they want us to be rough and tough like my afro puff...please.  Fuck that.  No they don't, they want to be wined and dined, they want to go to a theater show, they want to see fancy things, they want to be taken to a farmers market, they want us to dress up and look nice.   The list goes on and on and on.  Yeah, I'm saying it, and no, I'm not taking it back.  Don't get me wrong though, a little culture doesn't kill anyone, but man you're messing with my brain, and I feel if it wasn't for the influence of a woman, I wouldn't be turning out like this.  That's my way of thinking.

3.  Hipsters:  Freaking hipsters.  Now you gotta be wondering, why am I bashing the hipsters.  I'll tell you why.  The hipsters are a mixture of both tech and girls together.  You get influenced by the hot hipster chick that wants you to stay in and type that next bla(h)g! so that they can read it.  I'm being hunkered down by the two things.  However it's also the fact that being a hipster is being what you want to do, when you want to do it, how you want to do it.  You want to be cool, and being a hipster is kinda being cool.  That's what's happening, the world is being taken over by these laissez faire attitude hipsters.  Doing what you want to do, and not interfering with what needs to go on.

Take it or leave it, America is being wussified, and yeah, the younger generation is to blame, and so are  tech, women, and hipsters.  Let the bashing begin.  I can't wait to hear this.

Name that Hero?  It's pretty easy.

I'm not a Hipster, I Just Play One on TV

I'm not one who always been on the fashion end.  I grew up with three sisters, but I never grew up with a specific style.  I've always been one to mash things together.  I always wore what I like, and well, I'm at that step again.  However I'm pretty positive I'm going to be made fun of by my friends.  Oh well, it goes with the territory, and I've always accepted that.

Anywhoo, I've got an awesome new navy blue cardigan.  That thing is awesome looking, and I'm pretty happy about it it.  I guess it goes with the dark rim glasses and the new pair of jeans I brought...and here is where I'm going to hear it.  You hipster wannabe.  *Sigh*  I like the culture of it, so I guess that's where I'm at now.  Oh well, I don't know what else to say.  It is what it is.  So with that, let's take a look at the list of what people call the hipster culture.

10.  The Glasses

Yup, I got a pair of these.  Of course I do, I need glasses, and I need to see, so that's what's going to happen.  However, I can't lie, I always enjoyed my old pair of glasses, but these glasses are awesome, cause 1.  I can see, and 2.  They haven't broken on me yet.  Score for the these guys.

9.  The Cardigan

Look when you where a cardigan you are either a hipster or an old Mr. Rogers type guy.  Does the everyday man get to where the cardigan?  I don't know but I think they can.  I'm going to attempt it.  So why aren't you?  Hell even Jigga has as well.

HOVA!

8.  The Jeans

Yeah...no, I can't wear jeans this skinny.  Maybe a slim/skinny jeans, but not super skinny.  Just not doable.  I don't even think they look comfortable, oy!

7.  Shoes

I only own maybe 3 of these shoes...I'll wear my Chucks to the end of time.  Wearing Chucks since forever.  Oh, and Roos...if I can hide stuff...pretty much epic.

6.  Vinyls

I listen to vinyl, because music sounds entirely different on vinyl.  It sounds amazing really, but don't get me wrong, I also love my mp3s.  Oh geez, I just love music in general.

5.  Record Player

See No. 4.  Need I say more...?

3.  Printed T's

Funky, fresh, funny, that's what these tees are about, and Threadless makes some of the best Printed T's.  I would know, that's half my wardrobe.  ^____^

2.  Moustaches/Robots

I'm sorry, I hate the mustache thing that hipster chicks do, as a man that can't grow an epic stache or beard, it makes me furious, and owning this mug is the only thing that can represent a stache for me.  Hipster chicks shouldn't make these stupid staches, cause like I said...I can't.  Dammit.  As for robots, they're awesome, sad or happy, or even demented and wanting to kill us.  They're pretty cool...for now.

1.  Attitude

I don't have a picture of an attitude, all I know is that the culture is growing, people of Wilmington and Portland are coming out of the wood works and they are all over the place.  Maybe it's time for change, or maybe not...hahaha

Something a little new from Kina and friends.  I like.

It is What it Is

This weekend that just past, well I gotta admit.  It has to be the best weekend that I've had in a very long time.  I got to do everything that I always love.  I got great food, great company, and great drinking.  No lie, enjoyed my polish food.  Quite delicious, blood sausage and tripe soup, get the hell out of here, where do you get that kind of stuff...okay yes you can get it at a lot of places but, New Wave, and Syrenka didn't play around and it was no lie.

There was something that got my juices running this weekend.  Dave asked me, why don't I be a food critic.  At the time, the only answer I could think of was, what right do I have to judge other people's cooking?  I always believe that if I wanna judge I will, but on my own personal experience, that's why I have that food journal everyone brought me.  Then Jay said, "But I wanna give my thoughts on a restaurant and make sure everyone get the best idea of a restaurant from my experience."  Of course I thought that was a great way to think it.  That's extremely nice of Posef, however my thought is...what if someone doesn't think my taste of food is the same as theirs.  Do I have that right?  No, I don't, especially if I don't like a place.  Maybe it's because I was in the game for so long, maybe it's because I know that any restaurant, no matter how good or bad, no one wants their restaurant to be bashed.  A lot of blood, sweat, and tears go into the biz, I got no right to review someone that has put their all into a place, or recipe.  I could bash a lot of places, of eaten a lot of different foods, but no.  I have no right, and that's why I'm not a food critic.

As you may or may not know, my life has been pretty hectic and stressful.  I've worked over 11-12 hour days for the last 2 months, and well last week has pushed me to my limit.  I'm at a point where, well fuck it.  I just don't care.  Whatever is going to happen, happens at this point.  However I know one thing that will always calm my nerves, and I know one thing that I love doing most.  I enjoy being in the kitchen, whether it's cutting, cooking, and prepping, I love it all.  This weekend, I wanted to make something that I haven't made in a while, and well, beef stroganoff seemed like a great meal to make.  I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I thought a pretty epic job was done with the dinner last night for the family.  Three hour dish, with egg noodles and some sweet peas for a twist of taste.  I thought a good job was done.  Yes, a good job was done.

Well, that's my rant for tonight, there's something I've been thinking about for quite some time, however I'll discuss that tomorrow.  For now, I'm going to imagine that stew of steak, creamy savory gravy, with my mirepoix of onions, carrots...and mushrooms?  Yup.

I may have placed this video up before, but it's this thought.  I just wanted to say how lucky the guy is whoever is engaged to Kina.  Lucky bastard.  Enjoy.
