That's What a Man Does

What has happened?  What happened to men being men in this county?  It looks like everywhere I look, dudes aren't tough enough.  It seems our action actors are being played by some sort of Aussie or some sort of European.  Back in my day, I remembered Chuck Norris, Sly Stallone, and even Bruce Willis.  Who do we have now?  Matt Damon?  Yeah...that's all I can really think of.  That makes me sad, because in all honesty, this is the culture we live in now.  We live in the world and culture of the metrosexual.  Oh boy...

Okay, so first things first.  I'm not roughest man, I'm not into the cowboy boots and hats.  Hell, I'm part of that metrosexual movement.  I'm not going all the way with the metrosexual idea, but being clean, smelling nice, and dressing nice.  Is that such a bad idea?  No absolutely it is not.  I always figured if you work hard, you definitely have to play hard.  Why not looking nice while doing it though.  You have to clean up nice as well.  I guess that's where that's going.  Hmmm...if you think about it, I'm actually a lot metrosexual.  Fuck.

So how did it become like this?  Why did it become like this?  Where did this wussification of the man come from?  Why are they here?  Aren't the younger generation worried about not looking tough anymore?  Worried about being manly men?  Who is to blame for all of the wussy crap?  Why has our country of strong manly men...well dwindled?  Here are my three reasons why I believe we just gave up on the thought.

1. Technology:  That's right I said it, technology in the end is fucking us over.  You have kids glued to the magic box, playing their video games, and watching their programs.  Kids aren't out their running and playing.  I remember as a child playing wiffle ball with my friends and kickball as a kid.  Hahaha, I even remember watching my friend hitting a tennis ball into a window and smashing it.  Nowadays though, kids have their technology, their iPads, iPhones, mypads, and so on and so forth.  It's time we need to walk a little, get lost, play, read a book even, be a man.  Get dirty, get muddy, grind, do the things we don't do anymore.  Yeah, technology is killing us, this is how the robots are going to win.  We all want it to be zombies, but it's going to be robots.

2.  Girls:  I don't care how many hate emails, or messages I get, girls are fucking up our manliness.  I know what you're thinking, girls want manly guys, they want us to be rough and tough like my afro puff...please.  Fuck that.  No they don't, they want to be wined and dined, they want to go to a theater show, they want to see fancy things, they want to be taken to a farmers market, they want us to dress up and look nice.   The list goes on and on and on.  Yeah, I'm saying it, and no, I'm not taking it back.  Don't get me wrong though, a little culture doesn't kill anyone, but man you're messing with my brain, and I feel if it wasn't for the influence of a woman, I wouldn't be turning out like this.  That's my way of thinking.

3.  Hipsters:  Freaking hipsters.  Now you gotta be wondering, why am I bashing the hipsters.  I'll tell you why.  The hipsters are a mixture of both tech and girls together.  You get influenced by the hot hipster chick that wants you to stay in and type that next bla(h)g! so that they can read it.  I'm being hunkered down by the two things.  However it's also the fact that being a hipster is being what you want to do, when you want to do it, how you want to do it.  You want to be cool, and being a hipster is kinda being cool.  That's what's happening, the world is being taken over by these laissez faire attitude hipsters.  Doing what you want to do, and not interfering with what needs to go on.

Take it or leave it, America is being wussified, and yeah, the younger generation is to blame, and so are  tech, women, and hipsters.  Let the bashing begin.  I can't wait to hear this.

Name that Hero?  It's pretty easy.

I'm not a Hipster, I Just Play One on TV

I'm not one who always been on the fashion end.  I grew up with three sisters, but I never grew up with a specific style.  I've always been one to mash things together.  I always wore what I like, and well, I'm at that step again.  However I'm pretty positive I'm going to be made fun of by my friends.  Oh well, it goes with the territory, and I've always accepted that.

Anywhoo, I've got an awesome new navy blue cardigan.  That thing is awesome looking, and I'm pretty happy about it it.  I guess it goes with the dark rim glasses and the new pair of jeans I brought...and here is where I'm going to hear it.  You hipster wannabe.  *Sigh*  I like the culture of it, so I guess that's where I'm at now.  Oh well, I don't know what else to say.  It is what it is.  So with that, let's take a look at the list of what people call the hipster culture.

10.  The Glasses

Yup, I got a pair of these.  Of course I do, I need glasses, and I need to see, so that's what's going to happen.  However, I can't lie, I always enjoyed my old pair of glasses, but these glasses are awesome, cause 1.  I can see, and 2.  They haven't broken on me yet.  Score for the these guys.

9.  The Cardigan

Look when you where a cardigan you are either a hipster or an old Mr. Rogers type guy.  Does the everyday man get to where the cardigan?  I don't know but I think they can.  I'm going to attempt it.  So why aren't you?  Hell even Jigga has as well.

8.  The Jeans

Yeah...no, I can't wear jeans this skinny.  Maybe a slim/skinny jeans, but not super skinny.  Just not doable.  I don't even think they look comfortable, oy!

7.  Shoes

I only own maybe 3 of these shoes...I'll wear my Chucks to the end of time.  Wearing Chucks since forever.  Oh, and Roos...if I can hide stuff...pretty much epic.

6.  Vinyls

I listen to vinyl, because music sounds entirely different on vinyl.  It sounds amazing really, but don't get me wrong, I also love my mp3s.  Oh geez, I just love music in general.

5.  Record Player

See No. 4.  Need I say more...?

3.  Printed T's

Funky, fresh, funny, that's what these tees are about, and Threadless makes some of the best Printed T's.  I would know, that's half my wardrobe.  ^____^

2.  Moustaches/Robots

I'm sorry, I hate the mustache thing that hipster chicks do, as a man that can't grow an epic stache or beard, it makes me furious, and owning this mug is the only thing that can represent a stache for me.  Hipster chicks shouldn't make these stupid staches, cause like I said...I can't.  Dammit.  As for robots, they're awesome, sad or happy, or even demented and wanting to kill us.  They're pretty cool...for now.

1.  Attitude

I don't have a picture of an attitude, all I know is that the culture is growing, people of Wilmington and Portland are coming out of the wood works and they are all over the place.  Maybe it's time for change, or maybe not...hahaha

Something a little new from Kina and friends.  I like.

Meh...it is What it is

Soooo...a few days ago I wrote something on hipsters.  Namely the hipster chicks, and because of that my blog has blown up.  It really has become an infatuation hasn't it.  Yup it has, and now, my goal is to find a hipster chick and interview her.  I gotta hear her end, see the infatuation continues with them.  Come on Wednesday, Georgie is going to take me someplace special.  Times up, lets do this shit...

Anywhoo, this was a great weekend, I think my favorite part has to be the BBQ sampling this week.  And definitely voting for my favorites were awesome.  I'm a sucker for good BBQ, and some of these dishes were awesome.  We had one set of ribs that tasted very similar to my ribs.  This put a smile on my face, just knowing the simple fact that I can do something along the lines of these non-amateur cooks.  I can do this, I can become a great griller/chef/cook.  Whatever you want to call it, I can do it, I can put a combination of foods together.  I'm a foodie, and yeah, I love it.

Phillies status, not doing so good, however good win today.  I wish Cliff Lee can get a win.  However what are you going to do.  Fantasy is not going so swimmingly this year, but I'm still trying.  So we'll see what happens new year.  I feel like the Phillies this year, no matter how hard I try, the setbacks keep piling.  May have to call it in for this year, but still going to keep trying.  Still going to keep trying.

You know what's another infatuation of mine...cougars.  That's all I got.

Well, it's coming to that time, and well, I'm just plain old tired.  Night everyone, be good, and live life everyone.
