New Beginning, New Drinks, New Everything

Well, not new everything.  Kinda new...I kinda want to take a loan out and just start a grease truck.  Maybe a fancy one, maybe something.  I don't know.  I want a new something.  This thing I call a job is not a career.  It's just a means to an end at the moment.  I just trying to find my way I guess.  There's more to this right...tell me there's more to this.

So last words.  I've been thinking about this for a while.  Lets say you weren't here tomorrow, what would you tell your love ones?  What would be your last words to them?  I don't know, I figure I would say something great and dramatic, and something epic.  However, what if it wasn't?  Would I still seem like the dreamer, the believer, the life seeker?  I want to be this philosophical mumbo jumbo guy, however I feel like I'm going to be the guy that ends up saying stuff like, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing."  Shit like that right?

Lot of family coming to visit today.  I like that.  I've been having this contemplated thought on my mind.  Thinking last year things had to change, and again this year I'm seeking that same change, I don't know where I'm head, I feel like i'm on this dark and snowy road, and I can't see anything in front of me.  However I know I gotta keep peering into that Snowy dark road with my headlights on.  There's something on that other end of that tunnel.  There's something right?  There has to be.

Well I've been listening to a ton of Garfunkel and Oates lately.  They are pretty fucking hilarious.  Take a listen.

Don't Take Advantage...

You know that cliche where you are suppose to take life by the horn, and live each day as if it is your last, and to not take advantage of the people that surround you?  Here's the thing folks, we had a really big scare last week in my family.  My dad had a stroke scare, and well it was a scary and not very appealing to me.  Well I guess it's not appealing to anyone.  However, I guess this is where the cliche comes in.  If you don't talk to your parents or you're not in any way in contact with someone you love.  Forgive and forget, hug your parents, do all that crazy stuff, cause life is way too short.  If not, you're going to truly regret it, and it'll be quite devastating.

So with that in mind, been trying to make healthy meals for our family.  Deciding on spaghetti squash and chicken.  So with that, here we are.  Living life, and trying to make sure the fam stays healthy.  With that in mind, recipes would be good, and finding it is coming along swimmingly.

So it's short tonight, and I don't know.  I'm just watching over my father this week, and I don't know what else to say really.  Live life people, and don't leave it with any regrets.  Love the ones you care.  Cause it can all disappear in an instance.

Night y'all!

Meh...it is What it is

Soooo...a few days ago I wrote something on hipsters.  Namely the hipster chicks, and because of that my blog has blown up.  It really has become an infatuation hasn't it.  Yup it has, and now, my goal is to find a hipster chick and interview her.  I gotta hear her end, see the infatuation continues with them.  Come on Wednesday, Georgie is going to take me someplace special.  Times up, lets do this shit...

Anywhoo, this was a great weekend, I think my favorite part has to be the BBQ sampling this week.  And definitely voting for my favorites were awesome.  I'm a sucker for good BBQ, and some of these dishes were awesome.  We had one set of ribs that tasted very similar to my ribs.  This put a smile on my face, just knowing the simple fact that I can do something along the lines of these non-amateur cooks.  I can do this, I can become a great griller/chef/cook.  Whatever you want to call it, I can do it, I can put a combination of foods together.  I'm a foodie, and yeah, I love it.

Phillies status, not doing so good, however good win today.  I wish Cliff Lee can get a win.  However what are you going to do.  Fantasy is not going so swimmingly this year, but I'm still trying.  So we'll see what happens new year.  I feel like the Phillies this year, no matter how hard I try, the setbacks keep piling.  May have to call it in for this year, but still going to keep trying.  Still going to keep trying.

You know what's another infatuation of mine...cougars.  That's all I got.

Well, it's coming to that time, and well, I'm just plain old tired.  Night everyone, be good, and live life everyone.

The Hipster Dream

Hipster, what is it?  How do you explain it?  How do people see it?  Well this is what Urban Dictionary says: Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.  Well I know for a fact hipsters hate being called a hipster.  And by no way, shape, or form am I a hipster.  However my friends thing I am, but they are just plan silly.  I'm not.  I just like their culture, and they intrigue me so much.  I don't what it is, it is what it is right.

First lets talk about their music.  Indie rock is what they love most.  Hearing stuff that's not on the radio that's what they want.  Me, I just like what I hear.  If I happen to hear it outside of a radio station, that's cool too.  I found Kina that way.  Is she Indie?  Da fuck would I know, all I know is that no one knew who she was when I introduced her, and well...no one still does so screw it.  However I like the music that those people come out with, however what happens when the group gets big, and start to make it...well they sold out obviously.  God sometimes I think the hipster movement is retarded.  And honestly it really could be, but I won't knock the group just yet, cause I still think they're pretty cool.

Next the hipster style.  Well, I think you know how they look, that hippie, dirty, look right?  That's the hipster look right?  I guess so, but I love that look.  I don't rock the tight jeans or the anything tight portion, but I do like the Chucks, I do like the plaid, the funny printed tees from Threadless, and the I don't give a shit attitude is awesome to me.

The last and final thing that makes me love the hipster world, the hipster girl.  I love it, and I love them.  They are awesome.  From the pretentious way they talk, their attitude, and their sarcasm.  I don't know, I think it's great.  Another thing, I like those summer dress wearing hipsters.  Cute as a button as they are, and that with a pair of Chucks...oh my god, girls in Chucks are awesome, the best thing since sliced bread. I don't know, I love me a hipster chick, and I'm probably not going to get over that anytime soon.  If you have summer dress on, you're wearing chucks with you summer dress, and you have a large dark rimmed glasses, and you talk to me about some hipster band, I'm gonna be puddy in your hand and you can have whatever you want.  Man, I love me a hipster chick, so with that, when you type in hipster chick on google and click images here are the first 5 pictures.

It's what I like, cause I have the best conversations with hipsters.  Awesome.  Enjoy the song.

The Windy Apple

I don't know what it is, or how it is.  However I'm totally in love with the thought of living in the Big Apple.  I'm still totally in love with the idea of it.  I love me my Philadelphia, but New York is something entirely different.  It's filled with people, stores, and restaurants upon restaurants, upon restaurants.  It's crazy really.  I mean, how can there be a city that never sleeps?  Well, here it is, NYC the epicenter of the world.  I've always said it and I'll continue to say it.  I want to live there, but gotta get an apartment that is less than $3,000 a month.  So for now, lets find out what a foodie can survive on in this city.

So this weekend was a day of exploring.  I've done a foodie tour with Dave and Steffie before.  However this weekend's day foodie trip consisted of different types and also an awesome set of food.  Hot dogs, takoyaki, and more.  So lets begin this foodie blog eh?  Here me go.  So our first stop, some out of this world authentic style tacos.  We ordered a brisket, guaco taco, and a goat taco.  Tacos were amazing, it's a little different than the Americanized tacos, it's the guaco taco that I found to be the most different and amazing.  An extremely spicy and fresh guacamole that gives your mouth a very refreshing and spicy kick in the jaw.  Very nice, I don't know where this place is at, but it was at this mexican market, but the stand was ran by two hipsters.  AWESOME!  So the first spot my bro picked, great choice on his end.  Thanks bud.

Stooooppppp number 2.  Oh takoyaki and okonomiyaki.  I loved the taste of these things, and Otafuku makes some of the best in NYC.  So what is takoyaki and okonomiyaki?  Well lets start with the takoyaki.  Most of the time takoyaki is made of a batter that contains octopus and cabbage and other things in the middle.  Then it is grilled in a circular ball shape griddle.  So you get these octopus filled balls that are just amazing, then they are topped with a savory sour soy sauce based sauce and shaved pork.  And you got yourself one hell of a dish.  Yum-o!  And okonomiyaki, well that's even more awesome.  I love these things.  It's a cabbage filled pancake, that has a ton of sauce and mayonnaise sauce placed on top.  I can't really explain it, but it's awesome and amazing.  Try it and go for it.

Stop number 3, Crif Dogs, so we got ourselves a hot dog joint that isn't Gray's Papaya.  How does it stack up?  Meh, I thought it was okay.  I feel this isn't my first time that I've had a fried hot dog before.  Oh that's right the first time I've had it was in Clifton, NJ at Rutt's Hut, both are great, however I don't know.  It's a little weird the dog was good, but it wasn't great.  I don't know, must have been all the toppings, it didn't do anything for me.  My bro got a Redneck Dog, and I got the Chihuahua dog.  Once again, meh.  It was alright.  I'm going to stick with Rutt's Hut for my fried hot dog goodness.  Stop number 4 is next.

Cafe Habana, it was a cozy and quaint little place.  Quite enjoyable, they have this awesome ears of corn that consist of cotija cheese, chili powder, mayonnaise, and a touch of lime juice.  That makes it awesome right?  Yeah it does, of course it does.  Oh man.  So we all ordered our own entrees Cuban sandwich, a opened pulled pork sandwich with two sunny side eggs placed on top, and I ordered the steak and eggs...I don't know why?  But I did, and all three dishes were amazing.  Last place was another great choice.  Good times had by all.

So yeah, that was my weekend in a nut shell.  Hope you guys enjoyed as well.  GTs had by all.

Oh, and one last thing, Happy Birthday to Kina Grannis, her birthday was celebrated on August 4th.  So in honor of her, here is a song from Ms. Grannis herself.  Happy Birthday Kina.
