That's my Last Meal?

Lately I've been writing pretty depressing things.  Between Kony and my need to have and want things, it looks pretty bleak on good old Wei's bloggy blog.  So tonight I'm writing a little something more uplifting and a little more happier.  What could I be writing about you ask?  Well honestly, the topic of the night is...last meals.  Hypothetical of course.  If you were on your life's end, what would you choose?  Check out the list below for my choices.  Just a forewarning, I have no favorites really.  These are just random, and honestly, it be very difficult for me to put these in order.  So no particular order, and the taste, well as you will see, it's very eclectic.

10. Steak Dinner

Look it's the dinner of choice for so many Americans, whether you have the porterhouse, a filet mignon, flank, skirt, strip, ribeye (my personal favorite).  Maybe with a side of potatoes and some veggies.  It is known to be one of the best dinners you will ever have.  Cook it up your favorite way, and you have one of the best meals ever.  I don't know what it is, but the visceral feel of cutting up your meat, and chewing it like a cave man, well it just makes you feel like a man.  And nothing beats a great steak than having a great drink with it.  I prefer a nice single malt scotch at this point.  Maybe a nice high ball glass of Glenfiddich aged 21 years to finish the meal.  Perfection, that's what I call a manly man's last meal.  Delicious.

Look, if you can look at this and not get hungry, there's a problem with you, and if you're a vegetarian...sorry, but you're missing out on some tasty tasty murder.  Once again...sorry.

9.  Fried Chicken

I don't care who makes it, where it's made, or how it's made.  As long as I got a nice crispy bite from my first bite, and it's extremely savory, with a hint of love to it.  That last one was a joke, but it's really not.  Seriously, fried chicken is the most amazing meal ever.  And you add a side of mash potatoes, mac and cheese, cole slaw, a buttermilk biscuit, and an extra large sweet tea ice tea, you have yourself one nice finish to life.  Seriously, it's a great last meal.  I take it.

Juicy in every bite, with a nice crispy skin...I want fried chicken now.  Jebus.
8. BBQ

I don't care what kind of barbecue I'm having, as long as it is finger licking good.  I love me a great set of ribs, an awesome cut of BBQ chicken, awesome slices of brisket and burnt ends, and lastly some tasty tasty pulled pork, or even whole hog.  You ever get that BBQ, and you taste that first bite, and it's just an amalgamation of savory, spicy, and sweet, with all that lovely carnivores flavors in your mouth.  It's nothing but an explosion of flavors.  How can I say no to this meal?  I can't that's why it's on the list.  Go out there and try to find the best BBQ possible, it'll be worth it.  Seriously.

Nom, nom, nom...best part of the pig, cheeks.  Try it.
7. Dim Sum

I don't know why.  I really like dim sum.  I don't have it often, but when I do, I enjoy all the little intricate details behind it all.  Between serving tea to all your friends, talking and laughing, choosing the little mini dishes that roll around in the carts.  Freaking your friends out by eating chicken feet, taro cake, just thinking about it makes me want to have dim sum right now.  Oh man, and pork dumplings.  It's a nice last meal to reminisce about the life you had, talk to your closest family and friends, and just enjoy the time with each other.

I know it's suppose to be a little at a time, however when I go to dim sum with Anthony, this is how the spread usually looks, but it always ends in a good time.

6. Sushi

Yeah, it's on here.  And I'm not talking about that Americanized version, where every roll is a specialty roll, by the way, that's good as well.  However, I'm talking about that whole Japanese real deal sushi experience.  Where it's just you and the sushi roller.  He chooses all your dishes, and you don't add soy sauce and wasabi.  You don't dilute the real sanctity of how sushi should really happen.  Instead, you enjoy the cleanliness of the fish and the soft melody of the rice and lingering flavors of the sauce that is included with a brush to add to the rice.  The intricate details of it all.  Oh yeah, that's how I wan't it to end.

*Sigh*...now I want sushi.

5. Sandwiches

I come from Philly, and there are few important sandwiches that we make that I enjoy.  Between the pork sandwiches and the cheesesteaks that are created.  It's pretty amazing, and well, I don't just enjoy old school sandwiches, but I enjoy the newness and freshness that I haven't had all the sandwiches that I could.  Sandwich that I would really love to have, Katz's Deli pastrami sandwich.  Oh man, a $16 sandwich has to be worth it right?  Of course it does, of course it does.

4. Gelato

Maybe as a desert, however I don't care.  Gelato is delicious.  Ten times better than regular ice cream.  Due to the lower fat content in the gelato, and the extra air taken out, it gets a creamier, and smoother texture and it's delicious.  I don't know, I had it last weekend, and it was great.  I just need an i.v. of it.  Oh man, I need to get some gelato now.  Why am I writing this at night?  I'm killing myself here.

3. Pasta

I don't care what it is, how it is.  But pasta is the shit.  Whether it is in a blush sauce, alfredo, or pesto.  Pasta goes with anything.  I actually have a craving for gnocchi's, gnocchi's and alfredo sauce.  I don't know, I like the creamy cheese sauces.  However, nothing beats fresh pasta and a little marinara.  Oh man, dang...that would be an epic meal.  With a crusty Italian roll, and some olive oil.  Oh yeah.  That's how I want it all to end.

2. Korean BBQ

It's not like regular BBQ, Korean BBQ is awesome.  It's different, BBQ with an Asian twist.  Soy sauces, and all those little mini appetizer dishes in the beginning.  Kalbi, bimbimbap, and bulgogi...all that good jazz.  I don't know what it is about it. It has some intricacies that you don't know until you try it.  I think I be satisfied if this was a last meal...yeah.  Definitely satisfied.

1. Thanksgiving Dinner

Aaahhhhh yess...the last and greatest meal on earth would be the epic family Thanksgiving dinner.  And I don't mean just the bird.  I want it all.  Turkey, stuffing, casseroles, ham, sides, everything.  I don't know what it is about this meal.  However it's my favorite one throughout the year.  I just love love love Thanksgiving dinner.  I like it even better than Chinese New Year dinner.  So if I were to die in a few days, and I had to choose my last me, Thanksgiving is it.

I make a mean turkey

And BOOM Goes the Dynamite

So what a night.  Sushi with my boy Brandon, and a drink and cigar at a new cigar lounge.  Place was epic.  Honestly, my goal in life is to have a cigar bar just like this.  Amazing good times honestly.  I got to smoke in doors, watch that game, and enjoy a very large snifter of scotch.  Nothing has beaten tonight so far.  Amazing evening honestly.

So anyway,  me and Brandon head out to get some sushi, and we get stuck on 95 on the way to go to this cigar joint.  Not much else I can say, but I can't stop raving about this place.  However, when people stop by talk to you for minutes on end, and shooting the shit so easily.  Well I can't complain.  These people are good, and they take care of you so well.  Not only that...a free cigar lighter doesn't hurt.  A nice butane lighter is epic.

What else, well, the Sixers lost, so that's not good.  This of course make me sad.  But Chris Paul is a star, and he's good.  I wished Lou Williams was able to get a shot off, that would have been awesome.  However, what are you going to do? It's a tough loss, but there will be more, and they are good.  So I'm not too worried.  Oh, and yeah, I guess Jeremy Lin is pretty good.  He's a player, and seeing him getting one over Kobe, well it's pretty good.

Saturday

Let's finish my Saturday...so yesterday I really wanted a sushi meal.  Something about sushi, it's sort of my comfort food.  The simple fact is a clean taste of the sea, along with the pungent and tangy cut of the sushi rice, and lastly the delicate salty taste of seaweed.  Awesome.  It's easy for me to say that sushi is comfort food, however we all know for a fact, not all sushi are equal.  There are good sushi, and there are fantastic sushi.  However yesterday we went to Mikimoto, it was amazing.  Lets talk about the decor.  The first thing I noticed was the open ceiling.  Lots of restaurants are doing it nowadays, and it's something I enjoy.  It has given restaurants a lively feel.  Very nice really.  So, the restaurant is lit dimly, gives it a very nice ambience to it.  Also, the whole entire restaurant has a anime theme...and if you know me and my nerdiness, I love the theme.  Inuyasha, Yasagi Yojimbo, and Speed Racer...amazing.  The last touch to the restaurant, was the fact that the entire sushi section was right in the middle of the restaurant.  An open kitchen as it may be.  Fantastic really.  It's really a hip joint, honestly, a really good date spot for you and a special someone.  Oh yeah, have to mention, epic bar selection, and waitresses/waiters seem very nice.  Definitely a 7.5 out of 10 for me.  It was definitely above average.  If, I'm ever in Delaware again, and want sushi, Mikimoto will be the place to be.  Hip, cool, amazing service, and delicious food.

Now lets talk about the food.  Now we ordered sushi, and of course sushi is all about the fish.  Lets say this, it was exquisite, fresh and very very tasty.  I like to say I've had enough sushi in my lifetime to know what is and isn't good.  So yes, I believe this was quite excellent fish.  No strong fishy odor, and all the fish were quite delicate.  Very yummy.  Oh, and by the way, an amazing chocolate, creme brûlée...yes chocolate creme brûlée...wow, so good.  Rich, creamy, and decadent chocolate...hmm...kinda want one right now.  So here's the thing everyone, if you get a chance, and you like sushi, and you're in Delaware, go to Mikimoto near downtown Wilmington.  It's quite the trip, and experience.  You will enjoy it.

What an exciting Saturday, and during the evening, well it was just as nice.  It was nice taking Suzanne out for her birthday.  Happy belated once again Suze.  Chickie's and Pete's for dinner and of course all the drinking and dancing Suzanne could ever want.  After dinner it was to Cavanaugh's River Deck.  Honestly this place brought back a ton of memories...especially since, the last time I was there I was completely hammered, and I don't remember too much.  But how epic was it last night?  It was really nice, tons of drinks and tons of dancing, really awesome time...personally though, I like to apologize to Suzanne.  Sorry couldn't stay for everything, my heart just wasn't in it last night, and sorry I was such a downer.  If it was any other time, I would have dance and drank and been merry.  However I hope you had an amazing time, and that you know that I think you're awesome, and that you will have a wonderful year.

2 of 3 or possible just 2 of 2

The following was written at 7:25 p.m. at the Chapterhouse:

Second place…I'm pretty sure this isn't good, drinking all this coffee has got to be bad, I know the first one was just a chai tea, but still…I don't understand.  What do I have to do in life that I'm not doing right now?  I just wanna be a good person.  Isn't that what we're suppose to be?  So this is where this is leading too…relationships.  This has not been a very good week for some, and awesome for others.  It's crazy how life can be.  I wanna start with my brother.  Oh fiddlesticks…gotta run for now…not forever.  A short brb.

The following is being continued...NOW!:

So I lied, it wasn't a short brb.  I had to find Jillian, and then it was decided it was time to get dinner.  I wanted to write something on relationships and all that good jazz, but I think that I'll do it at a different time.  For now I'll just talk about the exciting aspects of what I call South Street.

So last night was quite interesting.  Our first stop was the Wine and Spirit store on South, epic...bottle of Pinot Grigio, store was quite nice, a nice older gentleman was at the cash register, and the store was lit very nicely.  Layout was okay, had a hard time finding Pinot, but all in all good experience  Our next stop dinner.

So we decided on sushi, I only know of one sushi shop on South, the Maki House, honestly it was just a convenient place, however it turned out to be very comfy.  Also the fact that the Phils game was one, "AWESOME!"  So we ordered about 5 rolls, and you know what...for what it was, it wasn't that bad.  By all means it wasn't super fantastic.  But quite lovely when you have lovely company.  Here's where the fun really begins, I really didn't think a bottle of Pinot would get her quite amped as it did, however it totally was awesome, and I'm not going to lie, it was epic.  So we're watching the Phillies game, and you know what's hilarious, a fantastic person screaming and yelling at a t.v. screen filled with Phillies stinking.  It's awesome, because Jillian was literally screaming in the restaurant full of people...which is EPIC!  Hahaha...gosh, just thinking about it, it's still funny in my head.  I think I'm going to remember this night for a while.

So after our epic adventure at the sushi place, we scurried along to Jon's on South, we decided a bar was a really good idea.  You know, finish watching the game and all...and you know what, it was.  Hahaha, strawberry margaritas...nice.   So we had to sit next to a douche who didn't even know sports.  Doode, you think if you're going to bad mouth a team you would have one...you don't even have a f*cking team, so "SHUT YOUR HOLE!!!"  Anyway, after our little downer section, we left Jon's and headed to our next destination.

After our little taxi ride, we finally arrived to McGillans.  Wow what a rocking place...you know it's good when people are dancing to "Dog Days are Over."  It was quite nice really, good drink selection, and though it looks like a dive, it kinda wasn't it was just sweet.  A kind of place...hmm...hipster like?  Possibly, not really, however I think the simple fact that I saw a man do the N'SYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" dance was worth it all.  Hahahaha...fantastic.  Jillian has really fantastic friends, I like to say that now.  So very sweet.  ^___^

I really like to thank her, for a great evening, I needed this night...thanks Jillian.
